WHAT A FINISH !! - 1st of September 2010

The final Saturday of the league season provided tremendous entertainment and success for all of the Thornbury sides.

The 1st XI needed to win to keep any chance of promotion to Premier One alive and they did it in style. Skipper Richard Trotman (114) led the way as Thornbury racked up a formindable 314-5. Cheltenham were never in the hunt and were bowled out for 191, Saul Heard (4-51) and Anthony Ireland (3-31) the chief wicket takers. With other results going the Thorns way the 1st XI were soon confirmed as runners up in Premier Two and the all important promotion sealed.

The 2nd XI however have been top of the Premier Two table all season but still needed a victory to guarentee being crowned as champions. Cheltenham again the opponents and Thornbury managed 190-7 on a wet wicket & outfield. Will Ireland (65) and skipper David Hammond (45) the main contributors. In reply Cheltenham never got to grips with the Thornbury attack and limped to 100 all out, John Wormwell (3-19), Louis Blackwell (2-34) and Chalky White (2-7) proving to be far too good. A fitting end to the 2nd XI's season as they have dominated the league throughout and fully deserve to be back in the top flight.

Ben Hurkett took his 3rd XI to Pakistain Bristolians and produced a superb display to bowl the opposition out for 109 and knock the total off with the loss of just 4 wickets. This keeps the 3rd XI in the B&D Senior 2nd XI League and ensures some challenging cricket for next year.

Huge congratulations to all the teams and to all those who support the club in whatever capacity - bring on 2011 !!

ANNUAL CLUB DINNER & AWARD CEREMONY

The TCC dinner will now be held on FRIDAY 19th NOVEMBER at The Ship Inn, Alveston.

Further details regarding times and ticket purchase / reservation will be published soon. Numbers will be limited so keep a look out !

LAST GAMES OF THE SEASON - WINS NEEDED - 25th of August 2010

As ever the cricket season has flown by and this weekend is the last round of league fixtures for the Thornbury sides with plenty at stake.

The 1st XI are currently fourth in Premier Two but equal on points with 2 other sides. A win against Cheltenham at the Ship Ground on Saturday could well see them promoted to Premier One.

The 2nd XI, having lost just one game all season, are sitting at the top of Premier Two and favourites to also get promoted. However a close chasing pack including their opponents on Saturday (also Cheltenham) again means plenty at stake. A win sees them crowned League Champions, a bad defeat could mean an anxious wait on other results.

The 3rd XI, who have suffered the most due to the sporadic availability of players over the season, are just above the relegation spots and need to win this Saturday in order to remain in the B&D 2nd XI Senior Division.

The very best of luck to all those involved this weekend, all support would be much appreciated.
