Thornbury U-17's have made sure that T.C.C. have at least one piece of silverware for the trophy cabinet this season by winning the Don Brooks Plate Cup for the BYCL U-17 league.
The side, captained by Josh Slade, beat Bedminster by 20 runs last Sunday (19th August) at Frampton Cotterell C.C., the hosts for the BYCL Finals Day.
Thornbury batted first and posted 99 in their 20 overs with valuable contributions from Marcus Wormwell, Josh Slade, Stuart McWhinnie and Harry Cameron.
The Thornbury bowlers then put a complete stranglehold on the Bedminster batsmen with a fine display of disciplined bowling with particular mention of U15 Josh Morris (3 wickets) and the exceptional spell from Harry Cameron (4 wickets) who secured the victory for Thornbury by taking a hat-trick to dismiss the last 3 Bedminster batsmen.
A fantastic achievement for the boys and the future looks bright for TCC (a team photo can be found in the photo gallery).
A quick mention for team manager Mark "Fraz" Franklin who ,unfortunately, could not be at the game due to being in New York (!!) but a fitting end to his reign of this squad that he has nurtured for 6 years - WELL DONE FRAZ !!!
